Majority people's Mother-Tongue irrelevant

Majority people's Mother-Tongue irrelevant

The Central Govt. should not heed to the demand for realignment of any State based on the mother-tongue of the present residents in inter-state boarders. There is no fixed rule that people in these areas should not relocate as per their convenience for trade, farming or occupational needs. Thus certain villages may have more residents who may speak a language other than the main language of the home state. This situation may get reversed or re-reversed at any point of time, in the due course. Sometimes due to heavy migration of the skilled labour cater to the needs of a large industry in the region the majority residents may speak neither the main languages of the home state nor of the neighboring state but entirely different languages of far-off states.

There may be some vested interests having affinity with a particular linguistic groups cosseted by political big shots, leaders of associations of castes and creeds etc. parade their overriding power in the region with their respective vote-bank, scheme to take advantage of the sentiments of people by instigating feelings of antagonism on each others. It is unfortunate that even the so called national parties like Congress and B.J.P which eye on these vote-banks, too are in the same track in the regional levels, forgetting their role in the national integration and the upholding of principles of unity in diversity.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister’s proposal to treat all disputed enclaves covered under the regions where there are more Marathi speaking residents in the Belgaum district, as Union Territories if not delinked from Karnataka and merged with Maharashtra are so idiotic and unfeasible. Let me remind that we have many Chavan-type leaders waiting for such an imprudent precedent set on this line to clamor for U.Ts in multi-lingual territories in all most all inter-state boarders through the length and breadth of this democracy. Then it will pave the way for the total disintegration of India by linguistic nationalism.

Chavan must be aware that his home state’s regime is in the Metro Mumbai where Marathi is ‘Greek’ to the majority residents! Will Chavan learn to keep mum for a while and not get tempted to blabber?
